16 weeks

16 weeks, 2 days

Me and the proud daddy after hearing "it's a boy!" from the ultrasound technician. The best thing I've ever heard anyone say, ever.

And now, my little man:

Shopping for Baby Boy

I had to buy his first outfit now that we know it's a boy. The rest can wait until the shower, but I just really wanted to get something special from mom and dad the day we found out he's a he! Everything we found we actually got a good deal on- gotta love Dillard's clearance! We think we are going to register there. They have some of the most adorable outfits!!!

How far along? 16 Weeks, 2 Days
Total weight gain/loss: 9 lbs -up from 111 to 120 (I guess I should slow down a bit and lay off the chocolate cake!)
How big is baby? about the size of a turnip (5 inches, 5 oz)
Maternity clothes? No, but today I accepted that my Miss Me jeans will have to go into storage until post-pregnancy. I wore them throughout breakfast and then decided that was the end of that! The trip home from Ihop was done with me rocking the unbottoned jeans look.
Stretch marks? No
Symptoms: headaches- I still have headaches almost every day, sometimes all day. I'm trying to drink more water, and the chiro is helping but they are still there. I will give homemade chocolate cake for anyone who can give me a solution to getting rid of them!
Sleep: Well, Thursday night I kept dreaming about finding out the sex of the baby and kept waking up all throughout the night. I woke up the next morning and decided that since I was 16 weeks, and there are places that will do 3D ultrasounds to determine the sex that early, I just had to see if I could schedule something for this weekend!
Best moment this week: finding out that baby L is a he!
So I called a couple of ultrasound centers in Houston, and got lucky enough to schedule an appointment with Bella Baby 4D for the next day (Saturday) at 2:30. My amazing hubby, Michael, and sister-in-law, Crystal went with me. At about 2:45 we started the ultrasound. Almost right away, Crystal saw something and said "Is that a wee wee?" and the ultrasound technician said "I'm not saying anything until I know for sure!" and Michael said he thought he saw something too.... About 30 seconds later she said "congratulations, it's a proud little boy!" I immediately started crying tears of joy and laughing, I was so surprised. I wanted to start bawling right on that table but had to hold back so she could continue the ultrasound. I have been thinking it was a girl this whole time, so to hear that news, I was just on cloud 9! Honestly I had been having about 3-4 dreams of me with a little 3 or 4 year old son, and he was just amazing! Sooo cute and so sweet, and I couldn't believe the amount of love I had for him, in my dream! I definitely got a true taste of what they say when they tell you you haven't experienced any kind of love like it.
Miss Anything? My Miss Me jeans! aaaand would still like throw back a prickly pear margarita, Katie-Mama!
Movement: Yes! I can feel his pressure and quickening now, a little each day!
Food cravings/aversions: salted watermelon and chocolate. I made an amazing chocolate cake, see my Recipes page! Guessing all the sugar is contributing to my weight gain more than the growing babe in my belly....
Anything making you queasy or sick: no
Have you started to show yet: Yes, but still looking fat more than pregnant, imho.
Gender prediction fact: It's a BOY!!! I was wrong, Michael predicted boy and was right. I guess my dreams were more of a sign than I thought!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Blissfully happy ever since hearing the news that I get a little boy! I feel so incredibly blessed!!!
Weekly Wisdom: I would HIGHLY recommend getting an ultrasound from Bella Baby in Houston at 16 weeks. That was the most amazing experience I've ever had, I don't regret anything about it. The ultrasound technician was so sweet, and really made the experience a memorable and intimate one. I haven't felt the same intimate setting from my ultrasound appointments at the Women's Clinic here, so this was something that I really cherish! Our ultrasound was about 20 minutes, and she took 24 pictures, versus the 3-5 minute ultrasounds at the doctor's office, with 2 or 3 pictures! Check them out at http://www.bellababy4d.com/
Looking forward to: picking out a name; the first stranger asking me when I'm due, which will finally confirm that I look pregnant to the world, and not just like I need to lay off the beer binging; more dreams about my little man until I get to meet him in real life, and getting to hold him and see him for the first time.
